Field of activity

In the spinning industry processes such as parallelization, refining and twisting are used to manufacture single and plied yarns of different strengths and thicknesses from fibrous materials. Textile machine operators - spinning operate, monitor and maintain the automated and computer-controlled spinning machines and installations and carry out the associated tasks involved in yarn production. Because of the technologies used, single and plied yarns can be produced with a variety of structures and effects for a very broad range of applications. Textile machine operators - spinning carry out their work autonomously on the basis of technical documentation and instructions, taking account of quality and commercial considerations.

Textile machine operators - spinning

• distinguish between different textile fibres and textile products on the basis of their properties and intended purposes;
• determine the structure of single and plied yarns, in particular by varying fineness, twist number, twist direction and folding number, and carry out fineness calculations;
• check and prepare materials for processing;
• operate and monitor plant and machinery for spinning preparation, using various methods for preparing material for the spinning frame;
• operate plant and machinery for roving and fine-spinning operations and monitor the spinning process;
• operate plant and machinery for processing yarns and monitor the winding, texturing and twisting processes;
• use systems for capturing and evaluating operating data;
• check fibrous materials, semi-finished goods and yarns for faults;
• maintain plant and machinery and eliminate faults.
