Field of activity

Qualified dental employees work in dentist's offices, in orthodontic surgeries, oral and dental surgeries and dental clinics. They are also employed in the public health service, in the dental industry, with health insurance companies and in billing centres. Their fields of activity lie in particular in assistance during treatment, in prophylaxis and in the organization and administration of the dentist's office.

• work in a team- and process-oriented manner,
• look after patients before, during and after treatment,
• assist during the treatment of patients,
• carry out hygiene measures,
• assist in making x-rays,
• apply environmental protection regulations and guidelines,
• explain to patients the preventive treatment possibilities of caries and periodontitis,
• teach patients oral hygiene,
• help with group prophylaxis,
• document courses of treatment,
• record services performed for billing,
• organize office procedures,
• help with quality assurance measures,
• draw up and supervise appointment schedules,
• conduct correspondence,
• monitor payments received,
• use information and communications systems,
• observe the rules concerning the protection of personal data.
