Duration of traineeship

3 years
The venues for training are the company and part-time vocational school (Berufsschule).

Field of activity

Insurance and financial services brokers work in insurance companies and in companies operating in the financial services sector, or are self-employed agents, brokers or consultants. They may also work in commercial industrial companies and trade companies, as well as for other service providers.

Occupational skills

Insurance and financial services brokers

  • advise and support customers in accordance with their situation and requirements
  • analyse the individual needs of customers with regard to insurance protection and asset investment
  • prepare offers and conclude contracts
  • make changes to contracts and conduct measures to manage portfolios and maintain contracts
  • check benefit cases and inform customers of the scope of services
  • use accounting tools and controlling results for their work
  • work in a team, process and project-oriented manner


Insurance and financial services brokers specialising in insurance

  • process damage and benefit cases
  • are qualified in two of the following optional modules:
    - Customer acquisition and customer loyalty
    - Marketing
    - Agency operation
    - Risk management
    - The sale of corporate pension products
    - The sale of insurance products for corporate customers
    - The sale of insurance products for private customers

Insurance and financial services brokers specialising in financial consultancy

  • advise customers regarding investment in securities
  • support customers when selecting a corporate pension scheme
  • advise customers regarding property financing, and prepare financing offers.
