Duration of traineeship

3 years
The venues for training are the company and part-time vocational school (Berufsschule).

Field of activity

Media designers for images and sound produce image and sound products. They work predominantly in television and sound studios, for remote transmissions, as part of a recording team and in post-production as well as for the transmission process.

Occupational skills

Media designers for images and sound are responsible for

  • supporting the realisation of editorial and media concepts 
  • selecting implementation options taking technical, design, efficiency and legal aspects into account
  • coordinating production processes and creating production documents
  • selecting appliances, setting up production systems, and detecting and rectifying faults and malfunctions
  • researching image and sound material in databases and archives, checking, preparing and processing image and sound material, administering memory environments and conducting standard and format conversions
  • recording images and sound according to editorial and design requirements
  • processing images and sound according to editorial and design requirements
  • conducting productions under live conditions
  • documenting project processes, and creating accompanying media and invoice data
