Occupational skills

Millers (Process technologists for the milling and animal feed industries) are responsible for

  • producing grain products, animal feed and special products for human and animal consumption
  • controlling and regulating process technology procedures
  • operating and maintaining plants, machines and technical facilities and servicing them
  • receiving raw materials and inspecting them
  • cleaning, treating and storing raw materials and preparing them for processing
  • applying quality assurance measures
  • conducting sensory and laboratory inspections
  • storing, packaging and loading products
  • conducting their work both independently and as part of a team on the basis of work orders, taking into account environmental protection, work safety, health protection and hygiene regulations
  • planning their work, specifying working stages, and checking, evaluating and documenting their working results
  • using communication and information technologies, making use of specialist terminology in other languages
  • fulfilling customer requirements in terms of operational standards
