Woodwork and building protectors:
- detect and assess damage to woodwork and wooden construction elements
- complete preventive wood protection measures against animal (insects) and plant (fungal) pests which cause damage to wood
- detect and combat insects and fungi which cause damage to wood
- rectify damage to wood caused by animal and plant pests
- detect and assess damage on buildings made of concrete, brickwork and natural stone which are in contact with the ground
- dry out damp buildings
- complete sealing measures outside and inside on construction elements which are in contact with the ground
- repair walls which have been damaged by moisture and salt
- plan and document their work
- conduct safety and health protection measures during their work, as well as measures to protect the environment at their place of work
- set up, secure and clear workstations
- conduct their work with a focus on customer requirements and efficiency on the basis of work orders received, both alone and as part of a team
- conduct quality assurance measures.
During the third year of training, woodwork and building protectors also specialise in either woodwork protection or building protection.
In the field of woodwork protection
- they also combat rarer animal and plant pests which cause damage to wood
- they apply alternative methods and special methods to combat animal and plant pests which cause damage to wood
In the field of building protection
- they apply testing methods and appliances in order to detect damage to buildings and construction elements which are in contact with the ground
- they analyse damage to plasterwork and improve plasterwork
- they prepare and complete sealing measures, in particular using injections and mechanical horizontal blocks.
