Duration of traineeship

3 years
The venues for training are the company and part-time vocational school (Berufsschule).

Field of activity

Sports specialists work in the sports industry, in particular in commercial, sports and training operations of sports clubs and associations, as well as in sport and fitness studios.

Occupational skills

Sports specialists

  • Inform, advise and support members and customers with regard to sports offers and the health aspects of sport and nutrition

  • Develop and draft concepts for leisure and competitive sports

  • Ensure that the organisation of sport, training and competition operations runs smoothly

  • Train and advise sportspersons in a particular sport, and apply the rules which apply to that sport

  • Plan, coordinate and organise training and competition events for all sports and for specific sports, and run them

  • Create training and competition conditions which comply with requirements and which are suitable for the specific situation

  • Support sportspersons with regard to training and competition, monitor progress and draw conclusions from this

  • Arrange for sports equipment and venues to be maintained and serviced, together with the related systems

  • Have the skills, knowledge and ability to implement training and support activities which conform to the "Lizenzierter Fitnesstrainer Deutscher Sportstudioverband DSSV" (the licensed German sports studio association fitness trainer standards) and the "Übungsleiter/Übungsleiterin-C-Lizenz des Deutschen Olympischen Sportbunds (DOSB)" (C-licensed exercise trainer of the German Olympic Sports Committee) and "Trainer-C-Lizenz und Trainer-B-Lizenz des DOSB" (C and B-licensed trainer).

  • Procure sports equipment, goods and services

  • Handle business transactions in the field of accounting and make estimates

  • Produce statistics, and evaluate and present them

  • Work in a team and customer-focused manner, using their social and communicative skills
