Certified industrial supervisors specializing in mechatronics are qualified to undertake job-specific technical, organizational and management tasks in the fields of "Mechanical/plant engineering and operation", "Assembly and commissioning" and "Maintenance and service". They are qualified and authorized to provide company-based training and further training (training skills).
Certified industrial supervisors specializing in mechatronics have many years of experience which they have as a rule acquired through relevant initial vocational training and further practical work. In order to perform the above-mentioned tasks, they command the following skills:
2.1 Job-related pedagogical skills
- General basic knowledge
- Planning of training
- Participation in the recruitment of apprentices
- Training on the job
- Support of the learning process
- Group training
- Completion of training
2.2 General skills
- Application of basic technical and scientific laws and principles
- Application of legal and business management principles
- Application of information, communication and planning methods
- Cooperation in the enterprise
2.3 Job-specific skills
· in the area of technology
- Integrating mechatronics systems while solving technical interface problems for heterogenous components
- Configurating and parameterizing mechatronics systems and putting them into operation as electrical specialists
- Organizing acceptance and delivery processes together with the customer; planning, organizing and monitoring orders for assembly, adaptation, commissioning and optimization; and introducing and training operation and maintenance personnel
- Taking down customer requests and complaints; planning, organizing and monitoring measures for the control, modification and maintenance of mechatronics systems
· in the area of organization
- Planning work processes; drawing up capacity and cost plans
- Implementing innovations
- Carrying out project management tasks; monitoring cost development processes, budget and deadlines
- Ensuring cooperation and information flow
- Analyzing risks and ensuring occupational safety and health as well as environmental protection
· in the area of management and staff
- Planning manpower and personnel development requirements
- Guiding, motivating and supporting members of staff
- Ensuring the development and qualification of staff and apprentices
- Implementing quality management goals and promoting the quality awareness and customer orientation of staff
- Advising and supporting customers and suppliers.
According to the Federal Government regulation of 19 October 2005 (Federal Law Gazette BGBl. Part I p. 3037) the certified industrial supervisor specializing in mechatronics must have demonstrated the skills listed in section 2 above in an examination administered under public law with a focus on practical application and job-related skills. A certificate is awarded on passing the examination.
Before sitting the examination for certified industrial supervisor specializing in mechatronics, all candidates must have completed vocational training in the recognized occupation of mechatronics fitter or in another recognized occupation which can be classified as a metalworking, electrical, vehicle mechanics or information technology occupation plus at least one year's work experience or provide evidence of a comparable qualification. Furthermore they must prove that they have acquired job-related pedagogical skills and are thus suited to work as instructors.
Courses are offered to prepare candidates for the examination; their duration depends on the various functional and managerial tasks.
