Trends and new offerings on the CVET market
In Germany's education system, the first to respond to new developments and new training requirements in the working world and the individual occupation is the continuing (in-company) vocational education and training (CVET) field. Being market-oriented and flexible, CVET is a motor for many continuing developments which more regimented parts of the education system adapt for their use only after a considerable time lag.
Germany's Federal Institute for Vocational Training ("BIBB") currently uses three complementary methods for identifying training trends:
- Structural and longitudinal analyses of CVET offerings in the KURS database to obtain information about changes and trends in offerings available in the CVET field.
- Regular surveys of CVET providers (wbmonitor) yield information on the provision of, reactions to and modification of courses on offer, and gather details on educational institutions' experience and their views and assessments of trends.
- The Innovation in Continuing Education Prize ("WIP") takes the direct route for identifying innovative CVET offerings and sends signals for new developments and ways of organizing VET that are in keeping with the times.
