Branding German vocational education and training
Demand from threshold and developing countries for German advisory and training services in the initial and continuing vocational training field has grown steadily in recent years. However, the fact that partner countries have to deal with a confusing array of German players with differing jurisdictions and responsibilities is proving to be a growing hindrance to the public image and the effectiveness of German activities abroad. In light of this, the German government has initiated a process that will give the public image of Germany's collaborative activities and players in the vocational education and training (VET) field a clear, uniform profile.
As part of this initiative, the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB) together with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) and Capacity Building International, Germany (InWEnt) founded the Aktionsgemeinschaft Profilbildung (profile-development action group). The Aktionsgemeinschaft Profilbildung provides a platform for implementing the above process. The next activities on the agenda for the Aktionsgemeinschaft Profilbildung are to conduct expert forums to work out thematic focal areas for VET cooperation and to develop a common identity and German Vocational Training brand to enhance the position of German VET cooperation.
These efforts have since been incorporated into the edvance initiative.
