Recruitment at the intermediate qualification level - Case studies
Recruitment at the intermediate qualification level - Case studies from Germany, England and Switzerland
Using an international comparison of company recruitment behaviour, this project is examining the interface between the education system and the employment system. In case studies, it will reconstruct company recruitment strategies and decisions on an international, cross-occupational and cross-sectoral basis with the help of a qualitative research method.
This study will examine examples of companies' recruiting strategies and behaviour for positions at the intermediate qualification level in Germany, England and Switzerland. The strengths and weaknesses of vocational training compared to university education (bachelor's degrees) will be identified from the enterprises' point of view as signals for individual job profiles.
This examination of the motives and reasons for recruitment decisions will provide information regarding which qualifications would best meet the demands enterprises place on the skills required for specific jobs. The project will thus provide information on how to keep vocational training attractive or make it even more attractive
