Workshops on commercial occupations in Europe

Trends and Problems in Vocational Training for Commercial Occupations in Germany and Abroad

Current developments in vocational training for commercial occupations will be presented and discussed during these workshops. The focus of this set of workshops will be on a scientific exchange with vocational training researchers from Germany and abroad.
Particular attention will be directed to the structures and content of training programmes for commercial occupations and pertinent research methods and findings.

The aims will be to:

  • Improve the level of information on vocational education and training in other European countries.
  • Increase the dialogue with researchers regarding the areas handled by Section 4.2.
  • Put external research expertise and European experience to use when designing and organizing initial and continuing vocational training for commercial occupations.
  • Incorporate research expertise when identifying and specifying research questions for the area of vocational training for commercial occupations.
  • Systematize important issues for vocational training for commercial/managerial occupations and place them in the context of vocational training policy trends and prospects.

Plans foresee three workshops each in 2009 and 2010 which will feature international speakers. The workshops will be documented. When necessary, BIBB will conduct a subsequent internal follow-up to supplement the workshops.
A final meeting is planned for early 2011 when the social partners will be informed about the results of the project and these results are discussed with them.
