Testing the German Qualifications Framework

BIBB is currently involved in the development of the German Qualifications Framework (GQF). A preliminary version of the German Qualifications Framework is to be tested by experts from trade, industry, the research community and education practice using four occupational clusters and fields of activity (metal-working/electrical engineering, commerce, health care and IT) which were selected as exemplars. This group of experts is to analyse selected formal qualifications and curricula from the entire education system and assign the different qualifications to specific GQF levels on a transparent basis and in such a way that there is a consensus on the classifications. These activities will also determine whether the GQF matrix is unwieldy or easy to use. It will be adjusted as necessary and a handbook developed for use when classifying qualifications in actual practice.
