BIBB has worked closely with Thailand's Office of Vocational Education Commission (OVEC) since 2005. An experts' conference was held in Bangkok in May 2007 which was attended by directors of vocational schools from throughout the country. The conference focused on the topics: training trainers; the development of vocational standards; and involving trade and industry in organising and designing vocational education and training.
In November 2007, "The Costs and Benefits of In-Company Vocational Training" was the topic of an informational event which BIBB conducted for doctoral candidates at the King Mongkut's University of Technology in Bangkok. This university is the first in Thailand to involve itself with the training of technical vocational school instructors. The German government is assisting this work.
A several-day conference with approximately 60 school directors was held in Bangkok in early 2008. During this conference the programme for a seven-day study trip to Germany was prepared. The study trip was conducted in July 2008 with some 30 selected directors of vocational schools, universities and other education institutions.
