International vocational education and training
The Special Focus section of this issue revolves around education policy developments and current European education policy instruments and their implementation. It also offers comparative reports on the national qualifications frameworks of different countries, articles on continuing vocational training and activities to gear vocational training more toward competences and skills.Furthermore, it is evident from these reports that international topics have a place not only in vocational training research and VET policies but must also be endowed with life in day-to-day practice at enterprise level. In this issue's commentary, Professor Reinhold Weiß, Head of Research at BIBB, spotlights the wide range of activities that BIBB is involved in through its international collaboration in the vocational training field. Other topics in this issue include the findings from the evaluation of the two-year training occupation Motor Vehicle Service Mechanic, quality assurance in online tutoring and a vocational guidance project being conducted by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
