Abstract
Lifelong learning is increasingly taking centre stage in education policy. Continuing education is a central element of lifelong learning. Continuing vocational training in particular is meant to help people cope not only with ever-faster technical and economic change, but also with societal change that is particularly taking place in the wake of today's demographic trends.
