Guidelines for the transfer of research and development
The transfer of research and work results is a core task and integral component of the nationally and internationally aligned work conducted by BIBB. The target audiences are stakeholders operating within multilateral contexts in VET planning and VET practice and the broader specialist academic research target audience. They further include other interested parties and media audiences both in Germany and abroad.
The Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB) endeavours to comply with its Mission Statement by encouraging active networking between stakeholders from the areas of academic research, policy making and practice. In this way, it seeks to make a responsible contribution towards the further development of vocational education and training on the basis of well-founded academic research expertise. BIBB describes the fundamental dimensions, formats and activities for transfer in its “Guidelines for the transfer of research and development”. These guidelines are used to derive a joint and definitive basic understanding of successful transfer.
Transfer at BIBB encompasses the publication and dissemination of academic findings within the scope of research work, evidence-based guidance for policy makers and practitioners, and the application-oriented and translation-related transfer of VET-relevant products and instruments which have been created by BIBB or coordinated by the institute in a lead management role. The key objectives are the provision of orientation expertise via the description, explanation and evaluation of vocational education and training and the shaping of policy decisions and VET practice in a way which is beneficial to society. The areas of policy making and practice are not merely the recipients of research and development results. They also act as dialogue partners by providing specific impetuses for BIBB’s own research and development. Key stakeholders are already structurally enshrined into the institute’s committees. This enables them to play an important role and is a particular strength of BIBB. They are also integrated into the knowledge production process itself thanks to their involvement on project councils and as experts in development projects.
