Division 4.3

Inter-company Vocational Training Centres

According to Section 90, Para 3, number 2 of the Vocational Training Act, the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training has the task of implementing in accordance with general administrative provisions of the competent federal ministry the promotion of inter-company training centres and supporting the planning, establishment and further development of these facilities. Division 4.3 is responsible for discharging this task.

This assistance is provided on the basis of the guidelines issued on 24 June 2009 for the promotion of inter-company vocational training facilities and their progressive development into outstanding VET skill centres (Federal Gazette No 100 from 10 July 2009).

This task also includes in particular:

  • developing and publishing planning aids,
  • participating in the development of principles and criteria for the provision of assistance,
  • conducting studies for use in demand planning and locational planning,
  • collecting and maintaining nation-wide inventory data,
  • conducting empirical surveys on selected issues (in the vocational education theory field),
  • providing specialized assistance and guidance for the supporting scientific research for pilot projects in the area of outstanding VET skill centres,
  • advising training facilities, chambers of crafts and trade associations,
  • conducting studies on the strategic progressive development of inter-company vocational training facilities in light of changes taking place in the vocational training system, 
  • evaluating the work done to promote inter-company vocational training facilities.
