The Institute Management
The President represents the Federal Institute in and out of court, manages and administrates the Institute and executes its assignments.
Wherever the President is not required to adhere to orders and general administrative regulations issued by the Federal Minister in charge, he performs the tasks of the Federal Institute in accordance with the guidelines of the Board. In performing the tasks of the Federal Institute, the President works with the Board, its subcommittees and the Research Council in a manner based on trust and confidence.
Professor Dr Friedrich Hubert Esser served as President of the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB) from May 2011 until the end of June 2026. On 16 June 2026, he was officially bid farewell at a ceremonial event by the Federal Minister for Education, Family, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth, Karin Prien. Until a successor takes up the post, the role will be filled by Professor Dr Hubert Ertl, Vice President and Director of Research at the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB).
