Vocational Training Reports

Titelbild Berichte zur beruflichen BildungThe BIBB "Vocational Training Reports" series encompasses specialist academic research publications which are mostly based on the research and development projects conducted by BIBB. They comprise A5 format monographs and edited volumes which usually contain between 200 and 250 pages mapping the whole range of VET policy topics processed at BIBB. The main target group of "Vocational Training Reports" is the specialist academic research community.

Structuring Training

Titelbild Ausbildung gestaltenThe BIBB "Structuring Training" series provides detailed information or new or updated training occupations. The A4 print version of the publication (about 100 pages in length) is usually accompanied by a CD-ROM with the same contents. This series of publications offers specific tips and practical instructions and is directly aimed at training practice. Its aim is to support training staff in their daily work with trainees.

Specialist periodical "Vocational Training in Research and Practice – BWP"

BWP 6/2012The specialist periodical Vocational Training in Research and Practice – BWP publicises academic research findings and practical experiences relating to all vocational education and training issues, thus promoting the exchange of views between training research, practice and policy. The publication covers both national and international developments. BWP has a print run of 2,400 copies and reaches readers in educational establishments, companies, local government authorities, institutions involved in educational and labour administration, chambers, employers' associations and political organisations. BWP is published six times a year. Each issue features a special focus. The periodical regularly includes the BWPplus supplement and documents the resolutions and recommendations adopted by the BIBB Board.

BIBB REPORT

Titelbild BIBB REPORTThe BIBB REPORT is an information service published at irregular intervals up to six times a year. The Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training uses the BIBB REPORT to address VET policy topics and adopt a position in respect of current vocational training issues by presenting detailed and more thorough data, facts and analyses. The main target groups are decision-makers and multipliers in politics, trade and industry and employers' associations, the social partners, the academic research community and the media. For this reason, information is restricted to between 8 and a maximum of 16 pages and is presented in a compact and media-friendly form. To ensure current validity, the BIBB REPORT, which is free of charge, is published in the form of parallel print and online issues.

BIBB Data Report

Titelbild BIBB-DatenreportSince 2009, BIBB has undertaken the independent publication of the Data Report, which contains information and analyses on the development of vocational education and training in Germany. This BIBB publications acts as a supplement to the annual Report on Vocational Education and Training issued by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and comprises more than 300 pages containing numerous statistics, tables and figures. The print version is available free of charge, and the Data Report also has its own dedicated online presence (at www.bibb.de/datenreport). The BIBB Data Report is indicators based. The comprehensive information and analyses it provides have made it the standard work on vocational education and training in Germany.

The "Index of Recognised Training Occupations"

Titelbild Verzeichnis der anerkannten AusbildungsberufeThe "Index of Recognised Training Occupations" presents a complete A to Z of all 349 training occupations within the dual system which currently enjoy state recognition. This is a standard reference work published on an annual basis which documents regulatory work in non-school based vocational training. It states recognised occupations, occupations which are being piloted and occupations which have been replaced or amended. The "Index of Recognised Training Occupations" also lists legal foundations as amended and states the relevant training regulations. BIBB is assigned the task of managing and publishing the "Index of Recognised Training Occupations" pursuant to the Vocational Training Act (BBiG).

Academic Research Discussion Papers

Titelbild Wissenschaftliche DiskussionspapiereThe BIBB "Academic Research Discussion Papers" series makes current data, facts or valid (partial) results of studies and evaluations available to the specialist academic research community before such studies and evaluations are correlated to form concluding overall analyses. This enables BIBB to contribute towards the trend of making research results and findings publicly available to academic researchers as quickly as possible, a custom which is becoming increasingly apparent across all academic disciplines. The "Academic Research Discussion Papers" are published free of charge on the BIBB website.

Specialist Internet articles

Titelbild Fachbeiträge im InternetBIBB is making more extensive use of the Internet as a publication medium by including specialist articles on current VET topics on its homepage (www.bibb.de). The main target groups are decision-makers and multipliers in vocational education and training planning, VET practice and within the specialist academic research community. Long-term archiving and Persistent Identifiers (the issuing of a URN number) ensure that the authors' articles remain available to the academic research community on a permanent basis and are therefore citable.

GPC - Index of publications

Titelbild GPC-ExpertisenThe specialist surveys produced by the Good Practice Centre (GPC) address current issues relating to the provision of occupational support for disadvantaged young people. This enables the surveys to contribute to the fulfilment of the task with which the GPC is assigned, documenting "good practice" in the transition from school to work and supporting funding practice. Each specialist survey undertakes a detailed investigation of one of the main focuses of the GPC’s field of activity – vocational orientation, vocational preparation, training funding, transitions or second chance qualifications. The surveys present new concepts and practical examples which are then considered on the basis of academic research findings. They are aimed at skilled practitioners working for educational providers, at general schools, at vocational schools and in companies as well as targeting planning and programme managers, representatives of associations and researchers working in the field. The specialist surveys are produced at irregular intervals approximately twice per year and are published online (www.good-practice.de/expertisen.php).

Data and Methodological Reports

Titelbild BIBB-FDZ - Daten - und MethodenberichteThe "Data and Methodological Reports" series is produced by the BIBB Research Data Centre (FDZ) and publishes data set descriptions and methodological literature relating to VET research data. This series of publications is especially aimed at academic researchers interested in the secondary analysis of BIBB micro-data. The BIBB "Data and Methodological Reports" have a particular focus on methodological aspects of the data genesis of individual data sets as well as providing important information on the particular characteristics of the data and on how it should be dealt with. The series of publications views its role as assisting in the creation of transparency with regard to data structure and opportunities for evaluation of and access to research data from the field of vocational education and training.

International Handbook of Vocational Education and Training

Titelbild Internationales Handbuch der BerufsbildungThe International Handbook of Vocational Education and Training has been in existence since 1995 and has developed into a practically related standard work for comparative VET research. The main focus is on 42 country studies, which concentrate on national vocational education and training and educational systems. These provide an introductory insight into general socio-economic conditions and the educational policy competences of the respective countries. The Handbook presents the educational systems from a VET perspective and traces their structural and historical lines of development.
