In mid-January, five experts from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in the Philippines visited the BIBB. The delegation discussed research approaches for strengthening evidence-based policy advice with BIBB experts and gained an overview of German VET research.
Alliance for Dual VET in Latin America and the Caribbean
The year 2025 was another milestone for the Alliance. Under the presidency of the Brazilian vocational training institution SENAC and in collaboration with BIBB and ILO/Cinterfor, important initiatives and events were organised.
Successful launch of the “Towards a Global TVET Agenda” Initiative
The BIBB officially launched its collaboration with four multilateral partners – UNESCO-UNEVOC, ILO, OECD and ETF – as part of BMBFSFJ’s new Initiative “Towards a Global TVET Agenda”. The Global TVET Forum in Berlin showed that impetus for a global TVET agenda is coming from all world regions!
The Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB) presented findings from German TVET practice and BIBB research during a high-level conference hosted by Malaysia in the context of the ASEAN Year of Skills 2025. Over 500 participants from more than 50 countries exchanged views.
Silver anniversary in international VET cooperation
20 years of the Global HR Forum, 25 years of cooperation between the BIBB and the Korean Research Institute for Vocational Education and Training (KRIVET). The growing influence of AI in VET systems worldwide formed the backdrop to this year's Global HR Forum in South Korea.
VET institutions from around 15 countries met in Rio de Janeiro for the Alliance for dual VET in Latin America and the Caribbean conference, hosted by the Brazilian VET service SENAC. The conference provided a platform for voices from practice, employers, and science.
From 22 October, VET institutions from numerous Latin American countries will gather in Rio de Janeiro. They will exchange views on current challenges in the implementation of dual training programmes. BIBB is organising the conference together with its local partners.

BIBB International Roadshow Digital Media in TVET 2025 in Manila
For the fourth time now, innovative projects will be presenting their digital TVET solutions as part of the International Roadshow. The event will be held on October 9, 2025, in cooperation with the Philippine partner institute TESDA.
BIBB and its Brazilian partner SENAI promote projects for digital innovation in VET. The winning start-ups were selected in an international call from a total of 18 projects from Latin America, North America, Africa and Europe.
Dual curricula in international comparison – BIBB in dialogue with Mexico and Peru

The second webinar on 'Dual training in the digital transformation in Latin America' took place on 26 June 2025. Organised by the coordination group of the Alliance for Dual Training in Latin America and the Caribbean, of which the BIBB is a member, the focus was on the use of digital technologies.
Delegation from the Indonesian Embassy Visits BIBB
The Chargé d'Affaires of the Indonesian Embassy and his delegation visited the BIBB offices in Bonn to learn more about Germany’s dual vocational training system. They also exchanged views on BIBB’s advisory work in Indonesia. It was a lively and stimulating discussion throughout.
On June 3, 2025, the virtual expert forum “The Impact of Digital Transformation on Dual VET” took place – organized by the Alliance for Dual Vocational Education and Training in Latin America and the Caribbean. More than 200 participants attended the event.

BIBB reinforces its role in Indonesia as an internationally recognised centre of excellence for vocational education and training
On 12 June, BIBB President Friedrich Hubert Esser gave a keynote address in Jakarta at the invitation of the Indonesian Ministry for Economic Affairs and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ). The speech formed part of an international VET conference.

Indonesia has trusted in BIBB’s advice for the “revitalisation of TVET” since 2019. Preparations to continue the advisory project were made at a working meeting in Berlin.
Around 100 vocational education and training experts from Africa, Asia-Pacific and Europe took part in the event on-site with nearly an additional 400 participants online.
International Conference from Nov. 30 to Dec. 1, 2023 in Bonn: VET, Skilled Workers and Transformation
BIBB organizes an international conference in Bonn that brings together researchers from different disciplines to highlight and discuss the active contribution of VET and skilled workers to technological and ecological innovation. Registration is now open.
In June 2023, the regional conference of the “Bridging Innovation and Learning in TVET” (BILT) initiative was held in Singapore. The event focused on the impact of digitalisation and greening on technical and vocational education and training, particularly for the hospitality and tourism sector.

Training courses for employees in the electroplating industry kick off successfully
Employees from Thai electroplating companies in Bangkok attended the "Applied Electrochemistry - Practical Electroplating" course at the SCHOOLPLATE Academy for the first time. BIBB evaluated the development and implementation of the course. The evaluation report is now available.

2nd International BIBB Roadshow "Digital Media in VET“
With the International BIBB Roadshow 2021, BIBB offered insights into the use of digital media in VET for the 2nd time after 2019. The focus was on so-called immersive technologies, such as virtual reality, and their use in vocational training practice.

“Digital media in VET” roadshow goes international
The nationally successful “Digital media in VET” roadshow has now also made its international debut. BIBB and Asia-based VET stakeholders presented examples of good practice at the specialist trade fair „Worlddidac Asia“ in Bangkok.
This special English edition of BWP singles out some of the current subjects to be discussed within the professional community and by the interested public at national and international level. Included are articles on digital transformation, transitions to work and international VET reforms.
The BIBB publication series IHBB has published a country study in English for the first time. The study focuses on the national VET system of the second largest country in the world in terms of population.
During her two-day study visit to the BIBB on 3 and 4 January 2019, the Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security of the Republic of Paraguay, Carla Bacigalupo Planás, gathered information about the dual system of vocational education and training in Germany.
Russian hairdressers show that they can cut it – GOVET supports VET cooperation
Russian hairdressing apprentices completed a German final examination for the first time. GOVET at BIBB and the German National Association of Hairdressers support the German-Russian cooperation that has the aim of assuring quality in vocational education and training in Russia.

With the new information film "Dual vocational training in Germany" which is available in 11 languages, BIBB broadens its range of videos available on YouTube. In 2017 the BIBB added more than 30 new videos on vocational education and training.

Thailand's new ambassador visits BIBB
Ambassador Dhiravat Bhumichitr and BIBB Director of Research Ertl exchanged views on previous and future collaborations. Initiatives of the embassy, topics in German vocational education and training as well as the services provided by iMOVE were also discussed.
The aim of the German-English Glossary of VET terminology is to assist VET experts with the understanding and translation of specialist texts and thus facilitate communication at an international level. The third edition is now available as print product and for download.
Paraguay wishes to introduce dual VET based on the German model
Paraguay has become BIBB’s fifth South American partner country. A project to implement “MoPaDual”, a Paraguayan model of dual training, was officially launched on 8 December 2016 to coincide with the signing of the cooperation agreement. BIBB will provide consultancy services for two years.
